Edmonton approves additional police funding

Police now have certainty in Edmonton. This according to mayor Amarjeet Sohi, after city council passed a new funding formula, that guarantees EPS will see it’s budget grow along with inflation and population growth.

Sohi stressed police told council during Wednesday debate, they now have the resources to address public safety.

The new formula passed 9-4 with those voting against felling there isn’t enough scrutiny on where the money is going.

Edmonton police have the largest per capita budget in Canada.
