Edmonton police say the death of a man found injured in a playground in central Edmonton Friday following a weapons complaint is considered suspicious.

Police say they responded to multiple reports of a weapons complaint near 85 Street and 119 Avenue – in Eastwood Park – around 6 p.m.

Officers reportedly arrived to find a man in his 30s at the playground in life-threatening condition. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

“While we do not currently have any suspect(s) in custody, our detectives are actively investigating and canvassing the area,” homicide section Staff Sgt. Don Curle said in a news release.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
