EPS investigators with the major collision investigations section believe the Escalade may have been street racing with another unidentified vehicle northbound on 17 Street.
Police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have seen a second vehicle, or the collision itself.
The burnt vehicle was still in the field as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The northbound and southbound lanes of 17 Street between Silverberry Road and 34 Avenue were closed following the incident. The area was reponed to traffic around noon.
