A Sturgeon County employee who was in a truck blocking the road told CityNews police had been in the area since 1 a.m. He also said ambulances had been there at some point in the morning.
The employee said he wasn’t provided information about the situation but called it a “police emergency.”
Nearby on Highway 28A, a woman in handcuffs was seen being taken into police custody. It was unclear if both situations were related.
In a brief news release Tuesday morning, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP asked motorists to avoid the area.
Tuesday evening, Mounties confirmed they along with a local fire department arrived at the scene around 11:20 p.m. to a vehicle that was on fire.
