Suspected driver in Ellerslie Road crash dies of injuries; death toll up to 4

By News Staff

The man believed to be the driver in a crash in southeast Edmonton earlier this month has died of his injuries, bringing the death toll to four.

The 29-year-old man, who was critically injured, died in hospital more than a week after the June 11 single-vehicle collision on Ellerslie Road and 17 Street.

A woman, 36, and two men, aged 38 and 41, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old man remains in hospital in critical but stable condition, police say, while a 25-year-old woman is in serious but stable condition.

All six occupants were in a 2023 Tesla going eastbound on Ellerslie Road “at a high rate of speed” around 1 a.m., police say, when the vehicle lost control and rolled several times.

Police are still looking for information or potential dash cam footage of the incident.
