Cardinal Leger Catholic school evacuated due to bomb threat, second threat in 3 days

For a second time this week, the Edmonton Police Service is dealing with a bomb threat involving an Edmonton school.

EPS say around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to Cardinal Leger Catholic Junior High School after receiving the threat by phone.

EPS Bomb Detail and additional units attended the school and students have been evacuated.

Nearby St. Philip Catholic Elementary School has also been alerted out of caution due to its proximity.

EPS say at this time the incident is being investigated noting the the call appears to be a “swatting incident”.

Wednesday, six schools and a hospital were forced into lockdown after receiving similar calls.

Cardinal Leger Catholic Junior High School and St. Philip Catholic Elementary School were two of the six schools placed into lockdown on Wednesday.



EPS can not confirm at this time if Wednesday’s threats and Friday’s are connected.

An investigation is on-going and individual(s) found to be responsible for the calls could be criminally charged.
