Rachel Notley re-elected in Edmonton-Strathcona

Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley has been re-elected in Edmonton-Strathcona.

Notley won has so far won 78.9 per cent of the votes in the riding, holding on to the seat for another four years.

The NDP leader has held the seat since 2008, when seat was first elected as an MLA.

In that time, Notley was the 17th Premier of Alberta, as well as the official opposition leader.

Notley defeated UCP’s Emad El-Zein (17.9 per cent of votes), Green Party’s Robert Gooding-Townsend (2 per cent of votes), Buffalo Party’s Andrew Jacobson (0.6 per cent of votes), and Wildrose Loyalty Coalition’s Robert Nielsen (0.5 per cent of votes).

Notley will serve as the official opposition after Danielle Smith was declared Premier for Alberta.
