Central Alberta polling station election results will be delayed

As provincial election polling stations prepare to close at 8 p.m., one in central Alberta is being delayed by nearly two hours Monday.

Due to delays, the Sunchild Admin Building in Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre will be open until 9:46 p.m.

“Election results for this electoral division will be delayed until voting has concluded at this location,” a tweet from Elections Alberta reads.

It’s unclear what kind of delays the polling station experienced.

Elections Alberta is also reminding people that if there is a line at their polling place at 8 p.m., everyone in line can still vote. However, anyone who enters a line after 8 p.m. will be asked to go home.

United Conservative Party (UCP) candidate Jason Nixon is the incumbent for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre and is running against the New Democrats’ Vance Buchwald.

The other candidates hoping to take the seat are Carol Nordlund Kinsey with the Advantage Party of Alberta, Tami Tatlock with the Wildrose Loyalty Coalition, Fred Schwieger, who is an independent, and Tim Hoven, who is also an independent.
