Edmonton police say a 33-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident at the Edmonton Research Park Saturday evening.
The Edmonton Police Service says a group of motorcyclists were travelling northwest on 94 Street near 19 Avenue around 7:30 p.m.
The driver of a Honda CBR 600 is believed to have left the roadway and he was thrown from his motorcycle.
“The rider was then struck by his bike and collided with a tree, while the bike continued on, striking a cement sign in the area,” EPS said in a news release.
Police say the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
Speed and rider inexperience are believed to be factors.
No other motorcyclists were injured, police say, and they all remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating.
Motorcyclist injured at 87 Ave. and Groat Rd.
It was the second motorcycle accident in Edmonton on Saturday.
Earlier, around 4 p.m., a 64-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision near 87 Avenue and Groat Road.
The rider is believed to have struck a curb and lost control of the bike, striking a nearby lamp post.
