Man facing 28 charges after vehicle ramming , carjacking spree: Edmonton police

Police have charged a 44-year-old man with 28 charges in connection to vehicle thefts and ramming vehicles in Edmonton Tuesday.
EPS says the suspect, who has been identified as 44-year-old Michael Russell Lariviere, was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly ramming a white Dodge Ram truck into other vehicles.
During the incident, a confrontation occurred between a man and officers, leading to one of the officers using their service weapon.
On Wednesday, officers arrested a man matching the description of the suspect in Tuesday’s incident after he allegedly caused “several more collisions and multiple attempted carjackings.

Police say since the incidents, Lariviere was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons and has been charged for various incidents between May 15 and 17.
As of Thursday, the charges are as follows:
- Using an imitation firearm to commit an offence (x7);
- Robbery (x6);
- Failing to stop at an accident (x4);
- Assault with a weapon (x3);
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (x2);
- Possession of a dangerous weapon;
- Flight from a Peace Officer;
- Assault causing bodily harm;
- Dangerous driving causing bodily harm;
- Breaches (x2).
EPS also noted additional charges are expected.
Meanwhile, police say at least two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the various events.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is also investigating, as standard practice in an officer-involved shooting.
