Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating a police-involved shooting that happened near 117 Avenue and 102 Street on Tuesday.
Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says around 8:10 p.m., officers received calls about a white Dodge Ram truck driving into other vehicles.
When officers arrived at the scene, the driver hopped out of the vehicle and confronted the officers.
During the confrontation, one of the officers fired their firearm.
After the shot was fired, EPS says the suspect re-entered the truck and fled before allegedly stealing another vehicle nearby.
Then, on Wednesday, officers arrested a man matching the description of the suspect in Tuesday’s incident, after he allegedly caused “several more collisions and multiple attempted carjackings.”
Investigators add the suspect has 17 outstanding warrants.
After being taken into custody, the man was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons, EPS says.
Due to the officer-involved shooting, EPS notified the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
