5 suspicious fires set overnight in Grande Prairie: RCMP

RCMP in Grande Prairie are investigating several ‘suspicious’ fires that occurred between 10 p.m. on May 15 and 4 a.m. on May 16.

Between 10:08 p.m. and 4:09 a.m., RCMP and Grande Prairie Fire responded to five different fires across the city.

Fire locations:

  • Disc golf course in Muskoseepi trails;
  • 85 Street and 102 Avenue;
  • 108 Street and 117 Avenue;
  • 104 Street and 102 Avenue;
  • 96 Street and 94 Avenue.

At the first fire – the disc golf course – it was reported that a man wearing a black hat and black jacket was seen leaving the area.

Mounties noted that a man was also arrested at the location of the fifth fire – 96 Street and 94 Avenue – in connection to the fire that was set there.

At this point in time, it is not confirmed if the fires are connected.

RCMP and Grande Prairie Fire say all of the fires were extinguished and no injuries were reported.
