1 dead after overnight duplex fire in Spruce Grove

One person was found dead after a fire in a duplex early Saturday morning in Spruce Grove, west of Edmonton.

The duplex on Heatherglen Drive was engulfed by flames around 3:20 a.m., according to Parkland RCMP, who were called to assist Spruce Grove Fire Services.

Police say once the flames were extinguished, officers determined there was body inside.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Spruce Grove is about 35 kilometres west of Edmonton.
