8-year-old believed dead, 2 charged: Edmonton police

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged two people in the death of an eight-year-old girl.

EPS says, during the evening of April 24, officers attended a home for a welfare check on a child.

When officers arrived at the home, they were unable to find the girl.

The EPS Homicide Unit took over the investigation the following morning, due to “the suspicious circumstances” surrounding the disappearance of the girl.

Investigators say at this time, they have not found a body, they do however believe she is dead.

On April. 27, a 27-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were charged with first-degree murder and indignity to a dead body.

EPS has not disclosed the name of anyone involved to protect the identity of other children related to the missing girl.
