Evander Kane calls out Kings fans after Oilers fan battling brain cancer was spat on in LA

It was not the best hockey experience for one young Oilers fan, who was in Los Angeles for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between Edmonton and LA.

Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane took to social media saying young Cecily Eklund, was harassed and spat on by Kings fans because of the jersey she was wearing at the game.

Ekland, who’s battling brain cancer, was at the Crypto.com arena with her mother, wearing a Kane jersey, when the harassment occurred.

“I’m disgusted and appalled at what happened to this amazing little girl in the stands and in a woman’s restroom where she was harassed for wearing her jersey,” said Kane on Instagram.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable. For any young girl, especially someone battling cancer, to be treated in such a manner is pathetic. Grow up, and as this smart young lady says, be kind.”

Kane received hate from some Kings fans, which he screenshot and posted to his story. One fan messaged, “Maybe you should be kind and not be such a f—g scum bag. We Kings fans literally hate you. You made us spit on kids for being a dirty mother f—r. Listen to your own words and be kind. You f—n scum bag.”

A spokesperson for the Kings has since commented on the matter saying the team is investigating the incident.

The Kings have also noted that plans are in the works to have Ekland and her mother be special guests at Game 6 in LA.
