Regimental funeral details for Alberta RCMP officer Harvinder Dhami

The regimental funeral for Const. Harvinder Dhami will be held Thursday in Sherwood Park.
Dhami was answering an urgent request for reinforcement from a fellow officer who needed backup in securing two arrests on April 10 when he was killed in a crash.
The officer’s vehicle hit a large concrete barrier on a road northeast of Sherwood Park.

Thursday’s regimental funeral will begin with a funeral procession at 10 a.m. from Bethel Lutheran Church.
The procession will make its way north on Bethel Way, then west on Lakeland Drive before turning north on Premier Way.
Members of the public are invited to line the procession route.
The funeral itself will take place at Millennium Place at 11:30 a.m. It is expected to last two hours.
The public will not be permitted on the grounds of Millennium Place for the funeral. The area will be fully closed off all morning and afternoon, until about 6 p.m.
It will be restricted to invited family members, friends and first responders.
RCMP say they are expecting a large turnout from police officer from various departments.
Dhami’s family says Albertans willing to show their support and send their condolences can donate to their local Meals on Wheels program in lieu of flowers.
Dhami volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program.
