Autopsy on man who died in downtown last week ‘pending further testing’

Edmonton’s medical examiner has conducted an autopsy on a 34-year-old man who died following an altercation downtown last Friday.

Officers reportedly responded to multiple reports of a disturbance at Jasper Avenue and 100 Street shortly before 1 p.m.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) say officers arrived to find an injured, unresponsive man. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.



According to the Edmonton Medical Examiner, the cause and manner of death are “pending further testing.”

EPS say a 50-year-old man was taken into custody following the altercation, noting he has since been released without charges.

The EPS Homicide Section continues to lead the investigation.
