Suspect stabs, bear sprays 50-year-old man getting off bus: police

Police are looking to identify a suspect in an alleged violent assault in west Edmonton last week.

The Edmonton Police Service says it happened Feb. 28 at a bus stop near the Meadowlark Safeway – on 87 Avenue west of 156 Street.

A 50-year-old man was getting off the bus around 3 p.m. when he was reportedly followed by the man, stabbed in the back and bear sprayed in the face.

Police say the victim was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The EPS says the suspect then fled north through the Meadowlark Safeway parking lot.
