Edmonton residents and those in the surrounding area are dealing with some of the coldest February days in the city’s history.
Temperatures remained below minus-20 Celsius Wednesday. That cold was expected to last through at least Friday.
With the windchill, the mercury is dipping to a frosty minus-40 C.
That prompted an extreme cold warning from Environment Canada.
It was also the coldest Feb. 22 in more than 60 years.
Meanwhile, the forecast high of minus-22 C on Thursday would be the coldest Feb. 23 in 135 years.
The City of Edmonton enacted its extreme weather response last week to help keep vulnerable people safe from the cold.
The last time it was this cold on February 23rd, the top movie was "Woman Hopping on One Foot" while the most popular album was Johannes Brahms' Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra. #Yeg #yegwx https://t.co/mLXlLkTpvg
