Teacher physically assaults student in northern Alberta school: RCMP

A teacher in northern Alberta has been charged after allegedly physically assaulting his student.

Police allege Michael Lorne Mcarthur, 59, assaulted the youth at a school in Lac La Biche, Alta., on Oct. 19, 2022.

Lac La Biche RCMP say the child received minor injuries.

Mcarthur was charged with one count of assault on Dec. 29, 2022.

Police say he was released on conditions and will be appearing in Lac La Biche provincial court on March 13.

Lac La Biche is roughly 215 km northeast of Edmonton.
