Many collisions seen around Edmonton as polar vortex hits

A total of 54 collisions were reported to Edmonton police Friday morning as the flurries hit the city.

Out of those 54 collisions, 8 were reported to have injuries and 6 were hit and runs.

EPS added that those numbers might not show the full picture since the opening of the collision reporting centres.

While the centres didn’t have numbers Friday afternoon, they pointed to wait times being under 10 minutes, thanks in part to a doubling of staff since last snowfall.
