Vehicle crashes into LRT train after turning into it at red light: police

A vehicle collided with an LRT train in south Edmonton Saturday afternoon, sending one person to hospital.

Edmonton police say the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. at 82 Avenue and 83 Street.

Witnesses told police both were travelling southbound on 83 Street when the vehicle reportedly turned right in front of the train at a red light.

The passenger of the vehicle was taken to hospital “as a precaution,” according to police, after being treated by EMS at the scene.

Police say the driver of the vehicle and the driver of the LRT did not report any injuries.
