Have you ever wanted to own a piece of Calgary Olympic history?
A gold medal for ice hockey, awarded to the 1988 Soviet team, as well as several other pieces of Olympic memorabilia are up for auction. However, they will cost a pretty penny.
Boston-based RR Auction will be selling incredibly rare items to the highest bidder until Thursday, Jan. 19.
As of Tuesday morning, bidding on the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics gold medal, which was given to Soviet defenseman Sergei Starikov, was over $6,000.
The medal is estimated by RR Auction to be worth more than $18,000.
Other pieces up for auction include a 1988 Winter Olympics torch coupled with official Team Canada uniforms, a set estimated to be worth more than $20,000. According to RR’s website, the torch and uniforms are from the collection of International Olympic Committee (IOC) member James Worrall.
You can also bid on a prototype torch, a collection of participation and commemorative medals, an IOC session badge, as well as two cowboy hats issued during the 1988 Winter Games.
