EPS Confirms Homicide in Death of 51-Year-Old Man in Edmonton

The Homicide Section of the Edmonton Police Service has confirmed that a 51-year-old man who died on New Year’s Day was the victim of a homicide. The deceased has been identified as Barinder Singh.
On Sunday, Jan. 1, Southeast Branch patrol officers were called to a home at 16 A Avenue and 38 Street for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered an injured man and woman.
Emergency medical services treated Mr. Singh but he died of his injuries. A 21-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

On Friday, Jan. 6, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Mr. Singh and determined that the cause of death was gunshot wounds and the manner of death was a homicide.
