Sir Winston Churchill Square to host Edmonton New Year’s Eve festivities

New Year’s Eve fireworks are set to return to Edmonton’s Sir Winston Churchill Square this weekend.
For the first time since 2016, the firework display will light up the sky over the pyramids of City Hall.
Before the 12-minute show, Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo will host all the entertainment for the night, which will feature music performances from Anishinaabe singers, Métis fiddler Colton Bear from Bear Country Band and Melafrique.

Everyone wanting to make their way down to the square is also encouraged to bring some skates and enjoy the City Hall Plaza ice rink which will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Other Canadian artists including Ken Hacke and Dylan Toymaker will be present throughout the square.
Lastly Edmonton’s Mayor, Amarjeet Sohi will be at the square to participate in the countdown to 2023.
