Autopsy of man killed in southeast Edmonton confirms homicide

Edmonton police are now investigating the death of a 24-year-old man who was shot on Dec. 3 as a homicide, following autopsy results.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says officers received a report around 8:40 p.m. that shots were fired near 51 Street and 13 Avenue, in southeast Edmonton.

Officers arrived to find a man sitting in a vehicle “in medical distress.” Officers tried to administer CPR but the man was declared dead at the scene.

The autopsy which was completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined the victim had died of the gunshot wounds suffered.

In addition, EPS has released images of a vehicle that may have a connection to the homicide.

It is believed the vehicle in the images left the area around the time of the shooting and officers are looking to speak with the driver and anyone who may have been in the vehicle at that time.
