Police warn public about violent offender released in Edmonton

By News Staff

Edmonton police issued a public warning about a convicted violent offender released from jail who they say could commit another violent offence.

Jaycee Bigstone, 22, will be living in Edmonton after he was released from prison Wednesday.

The Edmonton Police Service says it has “reasonable grounds to believe he will commit another violent offence against anyone while in the community.”

EPS says Bigstone is subject to a court order with conditions. He is being managed by Edmonton police’s behavioural assessment unit.

“Bigstone’s violent offences have resulted in physical harm to his victims, and he has been known to carry and utilize weapons in the commission of his offences,” police said in a statement. “Bigstone has been known to quickly escalate to violence with anyone within the community.”

Some of the conditions imposed on Bigstone include:

  • Living at a home approved by the provincial court or his supervisor. He cannot change homes without written approval from his supervisor;
  • Abiding by a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew;
  • Not having any guests at his home during curfew hours unless approved by supervisor;
  • Cannot travel outside Edmonton without written approval from his supervisor or the provincial court;
  • Must report to his supervisor any motor vehicle he acquires or has access to;
  • Not be in possession of weapons of any kind;
  • Not possess or consume alcohol, illegal drugs or intoxicating substances.
