Extreme cold warning issued for Edmonton and northern Alberta

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Edmonton and northern Alberta.

Northern parts of the province will see the temperature reach between minus 40 C and minus 45 C with the wind chill overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.

Caution is urged for anyone who has to go outside during the cold snap.

Environment and Climate Change Canada suggests watching for cold-related symptoms to avoid potential injuries. Cold symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

To reduce the chance of injuries and hypothermia, dress warmly, with layers.
