Stolen pet pigeons turning up east of Edmonton

A number of stolen pet pigeons have been turning up east of Edmonton.
The owner of the 45 competition pigeons, taken from their enclosure in Edmonton earlier this month, confirmed to CityNews he’s recovered three of his birds alive and one deceased.

Security footage shows a suspect entering the backyard shortly after 9:15 p.m. on October 18, leaving with a cage filled with the white birds. Police say the competition pigeons are valued at $13,500.
The birds’ owner has heard of several other potential sightings of his birds in and around Sherwood Park, saying those he has recovered were extremely hungry. The stolen birds can be identified by ankle bracelets with 7485 printed on them.
As of Thursday morning, police say no arrests have been made.
The City of Edmonton does license fancy or racing pigeons. Each license allows up to 75 birds, although with limitations to how many can be outside of their aviary at one time as well as fly times.
Currently there at 56 pigeon licenses in Edmonton.
