Alberta temperature records break with summer-like weather in fall

Over 20 different communities in Alberta have broken temperature records as the warmer weather continues into October.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, records were broken Monday in many areas, including Calgary, which saw a high of 25 C, beating the previous record of 24.4 C set in 1963.

      The coldest record for the city for Oct. 17 was in 1892 with a temperature of -13.9 C.

      Glenwood, which is over 200 kilometres south of Calgary, hit a record high of 28 C Monday, also earning the title of hottest place in the province.

      Meanwhile, the coldest place in the province Monday was Willow Creek near Jasper National Park, at -8.3 C.

      Temperatures will continue to be above seasonal right up until Thursday, when the forecast calls for a high of 15 C in Calgary. Temperatures will continue to taper as October starts to feel more like October.
