Alberta RCMP say no injuries were reported after an early morning fire in Fort Saskatchewan spread to six homes.

Cpl. Deanna Fontaine says emergency crews responded to a residential structure fire around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday in the Woodsmere Close area.

Fontaine says residents were evacuated from the homes.

RCMP confirmed the fire was fully extinguished by 3 p.m. The area was reopened to traffic as a result.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with police saying “it may take some time” to determine exactly what happened.
