Police say a man is in custody after he allegedly ran through security at Edmonton International Airport brandishing a knife around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say an RCMP officer at the airport located the man, and an altercation followed.

The officer was injured in the altercation. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police say the suspect remains in custody.

“Due to the quick thinking of YEG security and RCMP, no one else was injured and operations at the airport were not affected,” Alberta RCMP said in a statement.
