Two charged in alleged Maskwacis kidnapping; 3rd suspect at large

Two people have been charged and a third is being sought by police in connection with an alleged kidnapping on the Samson Cree Nation last month.

Police say a woman was kidnapped by three people on Aug. 13. The victim was reportedly forced into a vehicle, had a gun held to her head and was threatened with her life.

Maskwacis RCMP say the victim managed to break free and fled to safety. She was treated for minor injuries and police expect her to recover completely.

Investigators have arrested two suspects from the Samson Cree Nation: a 30-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman.

They have been charged with kidnapping with a firearm, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.

The man faces additional charges including pointing a firearm.

RCMP are searching for the third suspect, Alexandra Raine, a 24-year-old woman from the Maskwacis area.

Police say she frequents Maskwacis, Wetaskiwin and Edmonton.

She is facing charges including kidnapping with a firearm, forcible confinement, and robbery.

Samson Cree Nation, a Treaty 6 First Nation, is one of the four nations in Maskwacis.
