Woman in her 20s shot after pair of overnight shootings on Whyte Avenue: EPS

Edmonton police believe a woman in her 20s was shot in the first of two overnight shootings on Whyte Avenue early Saturday morning.

The Edmonton Police Service says the woman was shot in the area of 82 Avenue and 104 Street around 3 a.m.

Police say she sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a private vehicle. She remains in hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made.

While investigators were on the scene, officers allegedly witnessed a confrontation between a man in his 20s and a group a people.

Police say the man fired a weapon towards the group. Nobody was injured.

The shooter was arrested, and the gun was seized.

EPS says charges are pending.

“Police continue to investigate both incidents and it is not known at this time whether they are connected,” the service said in a statement. “Investigators are hoping to speak to any witnesses and are encouraging anyone with information to contact police immediately.”
