Possible closures, delays along pipeline in Jasper National Park

By The Canadian Press

Parks Canada says there could be temporary closures around the Trans Mountain pipeline that goes through Jasper National Park over the next six weeks.

Officials say in a news release that Trans Mountain Corporation will be doing hydrostatic pressure testing on the pipeline starting Thursday until Oct. 15.

They say those activities will be monitored by parks environmental surveillance officers.

Parks Canada says trails, roads and facilities within 30 metres of the pipeline could be temporarily closed at times for public safety.

They are warning people to check trail reports before visiting:

  • North Boundary
  • Celestine Lake
  • Virl, Dorothy and Christine Lakes
  • Miette Valley (Great Divide)
