Traffic to be impacted as Latta Bridge construction begins Aug. 22

Edmontonians may have to find a slightly different route to work as of Monday.

On Aug. 22, the city will be closing Jasper Avenue between 90 and 91 streets for about a year as it replaces the Latta Bridge.

Over the course of the next year, the bridge will be torn down and rebuilt as it is nearing the end of its planned life cycle, according to the city.

The new bridge will see a new shared pathway system.

Edmonton Transit bus routes 2 and 101 will detour from stops on 111 Avenue and 84 Street and will travel to Stadium Transit Centre. Route 2 will also make stops on Stadium Road, 107 Avenue and 95 Street.

In addition, a temporary route – Route 998 – will run a loop from 111 Avenue and 84 Street to Jasper Avenue and 87 Street.
