One dead, another seriously injured in northeast Edmonton incident: police

Edmonton police say a 63-year-old woman is dead and a second person was seriously injured following an incident in northeast Edmonton on Saturday evening.

Police say the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are “suspicious.”

Officers responded to a weapons complaint at 162 Avenue and 52 Street around 6:25 p.m.

EPS says officers arrived to find the 63-year-old woman unresponsive. She was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Police say an injured person “was located” and taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

An autopsy has not been scheduled yet.

The EPS homicide division is investigating.
