Events taking place around Edmonton during the Papal visit

As the Pope is set to land in Edmonton on July 24, here’s a list of all the events that will be happening around the Papal visit.
Papal Mass at Commonwealth Stadium
One of the main events as the Pope visits Edmonton will take place at Commonwealth Stadium on July 26.
This will be the largest gathering the Pope will take part in.
Those interested in going will need to get tickets ahead of time, and there will be no parking at the stadium meaning those going will have to take public transit.
The City is advising those who are going to dress for the weather and states clear 750 ml plastic water bottles, 12″ x 12″ x 6″ bags and 4.5″ x 6.5″ non-clear bags with snacks can be brought into Commonwealth Stadium.
Those heading to the Papal Mass will also be able to use their tickets as regular fares on Edmonton Transit between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Buses will run every five minutes from the Calder City Lot, Davies City Lot, Eaux Claires Lot, Lewis Farms, and Mill Woods Town Centre for those heading to the stadium.
Additional bus routes along Jasper Avenue and 97 street will be created for the day. Buses will run eastbound on Jasper Avenue between 107 Street and 97 Street and northbound on 97 Street from Jasper Avenue to 107 Avenue.

Indigenous People’s Experience at Fort Edmonton Park
On July 25 and 26, explore the history of Indigenous and Metis peoples in the Edmonton area.
This event will take place at 7000 143 St NW, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Indigenous Experience at K-Days
From noon to midnight at K-Days, take part in cultural experiences, live performances and more.
K-Days runs from July 22 to July 31.
Tawaw Thursday at World Music Week
The Canadian Native Friendship (CNFC) will be hosting various performances within the Heritage Festival.
Starting at 6 p.m. at the Heritage Amphitheater at Hawrelak park, Digging Roots, Billie Joe Green, Brandon Baker, and Kaely Jade will be among the performers.
Tickets to the event can be purchased through World Music Week.
KIHEW WACISTON (MacEwan University) Community Gathering Space
On July 25 and 26, MacEwan University will be open as a healing space.
Those in attendance will also be able to watch a live stream of the Papal mass on July 26.
Door will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Storytelling Through Resurgence of Urban Moose Hide Tanning: Moose Honouring Pipe Ceremony & Fleshing the Moose
The Edmonton Public Library will be hosting artist Jess Sanderson-Barry on July 25.
This event will allow Indigenous people without land-based learning or transportation to hide camps to work with hides.
Doors will be open for the event from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Honouring Awâsisak (Children) Pipe Ceremony
The Edmonton Public Library will also be hosting a pipe ceremony.
Edmonton Public Library’s Kêhtêyayah Elder-in-Residence and Nohkom Jo-Ann Saddleback will host the event from 9 a.m. to noon on July 26.
