RCMP say a 65-year-old motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a “serious collision” in Lac Ste. Anne County, nearly 100 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
Stoney Plain RCMP say the fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car took place on Highway 43 at the intersection with Range Road 31A.
Investigators believe the motorcycle was going westbound on Highway 43 and approaching the intersection with Highway 33 when a southbound car entered the intersection and collided with the motorcycle.
The 65-year-old man from Sangudo, Alta., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two occupants from the car were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police initially blocked off the intersection and westbound traffic was reduced to one lane. The roads were reopened Sunday morning around 1:15 a.m.
