Edmonton police officer charged with assault in off-duty incident

An Edmonton police officer is facing assault charges following an incident that occurred in February.

Edmonton Police Service says Const. Scott Bailey, who is a six-year member of the force, allegedly assaulted someone while off-duty over the Family Day long weekend.

Reports say the victim of the assault sustained non-life-threatening injuries and knew Bailey.

Bailey was arrested the day of the incident and was placed on a leave of absence.

EPS says no further details into the investigation will be disclosed as the matter is before the courts.
