Suspect arrested connected to shootings in Edmonton that killed two people

Edmonton police say they have charged a 34-year-old man in connection with two separate shootings in Edmonton.

Police believe the accused was involved in a Aug. 29, 2021 shooting at the Duggan Community Hall and a shooting outside a hookah lounge in Northside on Mar. 12, 2022.

EPS says the Duggan shooting resulted in the death of 22-year-old Hamza Mohamed. Police had already charged two men in relation to that homicide.

The March shooting outside the Ertale Lounge at 124 Street and 118 Avenue led to the death of 28-year-old Imbert George and injured several others. Police believe the 34-year-old suspect fired a weapon during that shooting.

Edmonton police say he was arrested on June 27 while he was sitting in a vehicle. Three other occupants of the vehicle were also arrested.

Investigators searched a residence associated with the suspect. They say they found:

  • two loaded handguns (one with a defaced serial number, the other with an over-capacity magazine)
  • two prohibited extended magazines
  • evidence from the lounge shooting
  • 7.1 grams of cocaine
  • and evidence of fraud.

A second man who was arrested on June 27 was charged with various firearm-related offences.

Police say they are still looking for a suspect, Saed Osman, connected to the shootings. They are attempting to identify a fourth suspect.
