Gold chains stolen at gunpoint from Edmonton jewelry store may be for sale online: police

Edmonton police believe jewelry that was allegedly stolen in an armed robbery last week by two suspects may wind up online.

Police are calling it a “brazen robbery” that saw two men armed with firearms allegedly rob a jewelry store in the Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre on July 22 around 5:30 p.m.

Gold chains worth several thousand dollars are believed to have been stolen. Nobody was injured.

Police say the suspects fled the shopping centre in a stolen Lexus SUV. Police later found the vehicle in the area of Jasper Avenue and 92 Street.

A 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old man are facing multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Detectives with the Edmonton Police Service suspect the stolen chains may be for sale online and warn people to be vigilant.
