Man with lifetime firearm prohibition found with loaded 12-gauge shotgun

Edmonton police say a 28-year-old man is facing various firearm offences after they found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in his vehicle.

Police say the accused has a lifetime firearm prohibition.

EPS says it stopped a vehicle shortly after midnight on Monday because the plate was obscured.

Officers determined one of the passengers was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching conditions.

When police asked the occupants to step out of the vehicle, the suspect indicated he was in possession of a weapon.

Police allegedly found a loaded and modified 12-gauge shotgun with additional ammunition.

The 28-year-old did not have a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL), and the shotgun’s serial number had been removed.

He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its serial number is defaced, and multiple other firearm offences.
