The federal government is pledging $10 million to Edmonton’s K-Days.
Ottawa says the funds will go towards site improvements such as making Klondike Park a “year-round destination.”
The government says it also wants to create new revenue streams to ensure K-Days remains sustainable in the future.
The goal is also to make programming more inclusive.
“K-Days has been part of so many wonderful memories for countless Edmontonians and visitors,” Randy Boissonnault, Canada’s minister of tourism and an Edmonton MP.
“Today’s investment will help ensure the festival continues to delight the next generation of Albertans, Canadians and international visitors while driving this city’s economy well into the future.”

The $10 million investment was part of a total $17.5 million promise from the federal government for various projects to promote Alberta tourism.
That total investment is expected to support 29 projects. The government predicts it will attract more than 2.1 million domestic and international visitors to the province.
