Red Deer woman identified as victim in car theft homicide

A Red Deer woman has been identified as the victim of a car theft which turned fatal earlier this week.
On Tuesday, RCMP say they received a call at 6 p.m. for a person in distress at a home on 59 Street between Gaetz Avenue and 54 Avenue.

The investigation determined the woman attempted to interrupt the theft of her vehicle and suffered fatal injuries when the suspect fled in her car.
The woman has now been identified as 30-year-old Reichel Alpeche. Her cause of death has been deemed a homicide.
RCMP are now looking to the public for help in finding Alpeche’s vehicle, which is described as a 2018 Kia Rio with license plate BZZ-3962. The vehicle is said to have damage to its front.
Investigators are also hoping to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage in the area of Kerry Wood Drive, to 59 Street, to Riverview Avenue from Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
