RCMP investigate double homicide of mother, toddler

HINTON — The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating the double homicide of a 24-year-old mother and her 16-month-old toddler.

On Thursday at 6 p.m., RCMP in Hinton responded to a report of a missing woman and her toddler who were last seen in Hinton, west of Edmonton.

RCMP in Hinton, along with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, were investigating the disappearance of the pair when it was announced they were both located dead on Friday.

RCMP have a 53-year-old man in custody in relation to the investigation and he remains in custody.

Police say there is no risk to the public at this time.
