CHARLOTTETOWN — An Alberta man is facing charges after refusing to go through COVID-19 protocols at a P.E.I airport.

Charlottetown police were called to the airport early Thursday morning after a man and woman on an incoming flight refused to go through the COVID screening.

It’s alleged the man pushed aside the healthcare worker and bypassed the screening.

Police intercepted the two and arrested them.

A 35-year-old man from Alberta has been charged with assault and both he and the 41-year-old woman he was with were issued a $1,050 fine in violation of the public health act.

The accused was released with conditions and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
