Police say the car slammed into a tree on 104 Avenue near 160 Street just before 3:00 a.m.
When emergency services arrived, they determined that all three occupants were deceased.
“Tragedies like this one deeply impact everyone involved,” Cpl. Vanessa Munn says. “Our sincerest condolences go out to the families of the three individuals who lost their lives this morning.”
Speaking to NEWS 1130, Munn says the families have been notified.
“The investigation is still in its early stages so it wouldn’t be appropriate to speculate on the cause of the collision,” she says.
“This collision is extremely tragic. It’s heartbreaking to everyone involved and it’s going to have a large impact on the community as a whole — losing three young people.”
Munn says there may have been a witness in the area at the time of the crash.
“We do believe that there was a motorcycle that initially stopped and then did leave the area.”
Cloverdale Minor Hockey Association has since confirmed two of the three boys were former players at the club.
“If any Colts families need our support, please reach out and we will be there for you,” the club wrote on Twitter.
People are taking to social media to express their grief. One man says one of the victims was on track to play in the NHL and he calls it an unthinkable tragedy.
Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
