Alberta records 1,590 new COVID cases ahead of enhanced restrictions

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Alberta health officials are announcing an additional 1,590 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 deaths related to the virus in the past 24 hours.
The provincial death toll is now at 697.
There are currently 681 people in hospital, including 128 in ICU.
More than 20,000 tests were completed, meaning the provincial positivity rate is 7.8 per cent.

This comes a day before additional restrictions are being put into place across the province.
Effective Sunday, all bars and restaurants will be closed to in-person dining. Gyms, arenas and casinos will also close their doors.
