Fatal overnight collision that on Walterdale Bridge under investigation

EDMONTON (CityNews) – Edmonton Police Service is investigating a fatal collision on the Walterdale Bridge Tuesday night.
The incident began as a traffic stop around 8 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a Honda Accord. The driver of the Accord fled, and the EPS vehicle pursued.
Shortly after, the Accord was involved in a collision with an unrelated second vehicle on the Walterdale Bridge.

Bystanders pulled the 33-year-old male driver and a 29-year-old male passenger from the Accord.
The driver died on scene while the passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 21-year-old male driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) are investigating. They are asking witnesses to contact them at 780-644-1483.
